Crohn’s disease is a more variable disease and can affect any part of the digestive tract from the mouth to the anus. Symptoms vary depending on which part of the digestive tract is affected ranging from principally abdominal pain and weight loss to diarrhoea and pain around the anus. Like ulcerative colitis the treatment is mainly with drugs to suppress inflammation, but diet and newer biologic agents play a bigger role. Surgery also plays a prominent role in the treatment. Like ulcerative colitis life expectancy is little changed by this condition and most people can expect a good quality of life
I use all the latest techniques to diagnosis and treat these conditions with endoscopy, colonoscopy, MRI scanning which avoids radiation as well as CT scanning and video capsule endoscopy. I offer the full range of treatments from drug treatment and modern biologic therapy with Infliximab and Adaluminab to dietary treatments and surgery.
